Hi, I have an appointment to have a Smart Meter Installed.
As I am about to do some refurbishment work on the property, would it be possible to have the Smart Meter installer fit a Isolation Switch, at the same time to make the refurb work easier.

    Hiya!

I'm afraid fitting an isolation switch would be a separate job that can't usually be done alongside a Smart Meter upgrade. You'll need to book that in separately - it's also a chargeable job as well.

Just echoing what @theunknowntech said ๐Ÿ˜Š.
It would have to be a separate job I am afriad! The charge for fitting an isolation switch would be ยฃ98.07 and you can book this in through our Energy Specialists ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Just as a point of note. Everything back from the meter is the responsibility of the DNO. Everything forward of the meter is your responsibility. The meter itself is the responsibility of the supplier.

What you can do, if you have a tame electrician handy, is to provide your own isolator switch, and fit the input side with the appropriate meter tails.

When meter chappy turns up, they isolate your supply, remove the old meter and install the new one. Instead of connecting the existing tails from your consumer unit, they can connect the tails to your isolator switch. Have your tame electrician on hand to then connect your consumer unit to your isolator switch output. I've found most meter installers are more than happy to do that bit for you. It's no more work on their part, if your sparky has done the job properly and everything will reach.
