Many US states have actually made it illegal to go off grid. I built a 'tiny house' that had rainwater harvesting, solar PV, solar thermal and a composting toilet, greywater processing...the lot. Completely off grid. Then I got me a girlfriend...and all bets were off and I had to move to a proper house. I'm out of pocket to the tune of ten grand a year.

Well, if you're going to switch supplier to enable E7, it's probably not worth switching back afterwards. I say this purely to avoid being flung all over the place.
