I'm sorry to hear that your Smart Meter isn't working currently 😔 have you spoken to customer services about this, and if so, what have they said is the issue?

As long as you're opted into marketing and your Smart Meter permissions are set to half-hourly, you should be invited to the scheme in due course.

Please note though, we do need to have received at least 30 days worth of your half-hourly readings before you can be part of the scheme, or else we have no data to go on to provide you with a target to hit.

This means, if you've only just set your settings to half-hourly or only just recently, we can't invite you to take part until this data is available to us.

My account is set for half hourly readings, and opted in marketing since last year. I also have Eon Next app on my phone, there for I have met all eligibility requirements.

To date, I have NEVER received an email or SMS regarding Demand Flexibility Service !


It appears to join Demand Flexibility Service, accounts are chosen at RANDOM.... ???

If you're opted into marketing and have your settings set so that we can receive your half-hourly meter readings, it's possible that there's an issue with us receiving your half-hourly data/this information isn't coming through to us.

You won't be able to check this online, so do get in touch with customer services who can take a look at your account to ensure that the data is coming through to us. If it's not, this can be fixed, but without it, you won't be invited to join the scheme.

Hi, as Eon cant even raise me a bill without me asking for one, can't respond to emails (i've sent 23 to today to 3 email addresses) have been trying to fix the problem since May last year, don't even know what energy shift is at customer services, I'm not really surprised that i have not been invited to take part. Nor have my parents. We are both on smart meters with half hourly readings......

Taking that advice at face value suggests that we should now maximise electricity use during peak periods so that, if/ when eventually eligible for DFS, our saving will calculated to be greater against current use.

For info, the fitter who installed our smart meters two months ago confirmed that the meters take a reading every 30 mins, ie regardless of the online account settings, and we have noted that the SmartView device reflects this. We should therefore be eligible for DFS already.

I’ve been told that only selected EON Next customers are being invited for now - not all who’ve opted in and send half hourly readings will be invited. I’ve also been told no Sainsburys energy customers are currently being invited but will be if customers like the trial.

Hi Peter, eon doesn’t fix the smart meters. I went all the way to ombudsman and they still haven’t fixed it. I think software needs to be updated on SMET2.

Already been in contact, Eon Next is receiving half-hourly data from my smart meter, there has been no issue. It was confirmed that my accounted was opted into marketing.


At least British Gas initiative 'Peak Save' and EDF were more TRANSPARENT.
They sent out invites by email in December 22 with a sign-up DEADLINE, to a SMALL group of customers (RANDOM),
and no LONGER sending out invites to sign-up for their Demand Flexibility Service TRIAL !


Which is why I suspect, a small group of Eon customers were selected at random for sign-up to Demand Flexibility Service (Eon Next initiative 'Energy Shift')

AND Eon Next is no longer sending emails inviting accounts to sign-up for 'Energy Shift' as it's a TRIAL, which is why Eon's Customer service have NO Knowledge of it !!
