I feel that I may be lacking understanding of how the £400 subsidy works.
I pay £267 each month, on the same day. I receive an email saying that '£267 will be taken from my account with £66 credited to my account'.
My issue is... I am nearly £300 in credit. I assumed the £65 would be taken off my DD, reducing it to £201. I feel I am not really getting any benefit from this. I understand the credit will help in the winter months, but I'm personally not having a reduction to my bills.
You're correct in your understanding but prices went up by a third on October 1st (if you were on the variable) so it may be why your DD hasn't changed.
Have you checked your energy account online, you should see the first £66 paid in 'Transactions'. As long as you're getting it you'll benefit, either now in a DD reduction or later when your account is reassessed.
@Squintern your bills are not changed in any way. As @Andy65 says prices went up substantially in October and thus will feed into bills and your account will be impacted so your DD would normally go up. The discount of £400 over the winter months, and it’s implementation by E.On Next, has caused a lot of confusion.
for me my DD went down by the discount OK. Some others didn’t get the benefit this month but will get it next month. Check what has actually been debited from your bank account and see how your online energy account has been adjusted. Hopefully all will become clear, the emails have not explained things properly.

Thank you both for your help. My DD went up in October from £259 to £262. Thankfully, only a small increase.
Eon has taken the £262 with £66 being credited to my account. I truly hoped that the deducation would be from my DD. I feel I'm not really getting any benefit. I'm still paying the full price, therefore my bills are still expensive.
Just remember that you're getting £400 added to your energy account over 6 months. So whilst you're not currently seeing a reduction in your DD, you are getting the benefit, you'll notice it in the coming months.
As your DD only went up by £3, that's the effect of the EBSS more than likely.
