To do with how power cuts might be managed if the unthinkable happens. The Electricity Supply Emergency Code (ESEC) outlines the process for ensuring fair distribution nationally while still protecting those who require special treatment, using a process known as ‘rota disconnections’. Looking at ESEC Guidelines it seems that all postcodes are allocated a Load Block (Letters A to U). Some suppliers have that information (specifically the Load Block letter of your address) on account or on bills.
Amazing isn’t it? They’re regulated to tell us what our alpha identifier is annually and it appears that they do on our bills... except nobody gets paper bills now! Definite not on my online account, or at least not identifiably. They’re allocated to postcodes, apparently, so somebody must have a master list somewhere, I guess? Perhaps we’re expected to wait until the lights go out for three hours and then look up what block that was? 🤷♂️
Having lived through the power "rota disconnections" which were extensive and went on for many weeks in the 1970's I know that if, and that's a very very big if, they come again I'll cope just as I did then, perhaps even better. But then I have both gas and electric supplies to the house. The gas pressure might drop but it never goes off so cooking and heating, via gas fire, will still be viable.
Its much more of a problem for all electric households, but it wasn't the end of the world then and it wouldn't be again.

Actually looked at my very last bill. Lo and Behold there it was:
Curiously though this is the first bill I have seen this on. Bill generation was 15th October. Not on any of my previous bills. Strange. Matches that given by link kindly given earlier.

It's not on my latest bill of 28th September, they're either adding it as a result of the National Grid scaremongering or you're going to the only one cut off to save the rest of us 🤣
Hmmmmm…. My bill says my address is code S but the powercut105 website says E
Which source do I believe?
Knowing my luck I’d get 2 lots of rotating power cuts 😂
Are you sure you're not looking at the big S at the start of the supply number (see my previous pic). If it is on you bill (Postcode area alpha identifier) it will be on the electricity section underneath your Supply address.
