Why do E.ON send me letters every month when I have an online account? I can see how to opt out of texts and phone calls, but not letters. Does anyone know? Thank you

@RosieB, it's usually default to emails, unless a previous tenant or homeowner was on paper bills.

I agree it's super wasteful especially if you have an online account but all is not lost! Contact customer services as @theunknowntech has suggested to get this changed. Just a heads up, there is a bit of a wait at the moment though but a social media message will get picked up and they can change that for you. 😊

@Beki_EONNext I have the same problem. It is silly that you don't offer an option in the online account profile settings for us to turn off paper bills. Not being able to DIY this is a waste of your time and ours.

No, actually I like the paper bills because I don't have a smartphone or a mobile network in range (so no app) and we have very regular power cuts round here...so if the router and the 'pooter are off for a day or so...you know?

I also have to keep full paper records for business purposes. Plus, as has happened to a few million people over the last 12 months, your previous supplier goes bust and you lose access to all your online gubbins...

If I need a paper copy, I can print one off myself, no problem. But yes I completely agree about postage waste. Not just the cost of the actual postage (which isn't as much as retail postage as I'm sure EON.Next have a corporate bulk sender account) but the half a rainforest's worth of paper and envelopes needed.

Save energy and lower your carbon footprint? Save paper and reduce deforestation.

Do you live semi 'off grid'? I'm really intrigued by the thought of being self-sufficient one day; dreaming of a small holding, powered by my own generated electric, greenhouses warmed by composting manure... But that would have to be when my littles are much older.

Semi off grid as in mains electricity, but no gas and having to have oil delivered regularly.
Semi off grid as in not having a mobile phone signal, although we do have Fibre Broadband. That's because there is a school in the village.
Semi off grid as in the nearest shop is at a garage 3 miles away.

I've prototyped the off grid lifestyle when I lived in Surrey. The original plan was to move to Wales ten years ago and go the whole hog. All well and good when you are single, but since moving over here I've 'acquired' a better half and she's really into the gardening and veg growing, but not so good at the 'roughing it'!

When I moved to Wales, I stayed at a friend's farm, bought an old delivery lorry body...



And did a bit of DIY...

And turned it into an off grid office.
