I have a Gas account with Eon next my tariff is incorrect on IHD and my Electric is with British Gas, they are saying they cannot update my IHD with correct tariff because I have another supplier. I’ve turned display on and off and moved it near meter this didn’t work.
We can definitely send an IHD update for your gas meter, as long as it is working entirely so, sending readings automatically and connected to the DCC.
If your meters are working, I would head back to customer service and pop them this message "Please send an IHD update for XXXXXXX account." Don't forget to confirm your details!
Please let us know how you get on.
Thanks @theunknowntech for always explaining the science behind these things. 😊
The SMETS Command Update Tariff Configuration targets the METER, not the IHD. Given that I'm "in the know" that excuse doesn't wash at all.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Yeah, it took me less than 1 nanosecond to figure out BG was probably at fault in this case. Let's just say that E.On Next staff have learned how to use that particular SMETS Command very effectively at this point... 😛
Thank you for replies this is the actual message they sent me.
sorry for the delay in coming back to you. I have spoken to my colleague who is a metering expert and they have advised that because you are with a different supplier for your electric we won't be able to update your gas tariff on your IHD. Your IHD communicates with the electric which then in turn communicates with the gas. And as we don't supply the electric we can't change the rates for the gas on the IHD. I am sorry about that.
Hi I’ve asked Eon next to send command this is there response
I have sent a command to your gas meter however it is unlikely that this will work because your electric is with a different company. Communications are predominantly made through the electric meter which then speaks to the gas.
Please allow up to 24 hours for the command to process and then reset your IHD to see if this has updated.

Everything goes through the COMMS HUB, not the Electric Meter. It should work anyway. :P
can you expand. The communication hub is attached to the electricity meter and powered from the mains supply before the household supply is measured. The communications between the meter and the supplier are via segregated channels so that meters supplied by different companies are properly supported. Please confirm my understanding.
