How do I get this sorted, I feel held hostage to this company with no where to turn.
Year quote £7000

I’ve been told by EON, my electric usage is going to be £7,000 per year, for 2 people living in a flat , lights, sockets and cooker only, I am £790 in credit and still they want to take £490 a month from me and I’ve been emailing and talking to them, each time they say they will sort it and still nothing.
How do I get this sorted, I feel held hostage to this company with no where to turn. -

@ABD
What region are you in?
What are the forecasts of your energy consumption?
Are those forecasts Reasonable?
What Tariff are you on? Is it Economy 7?
You have to argue on the basis of logic, not that you think "its too high". Provide the information and then there are facts for us to advise on.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. @meldrewreborn Thanks yes North West

I’m in London
I would not say it’s reasonable for electric usage for 2 people at £7000 a yea, I’m in credit for £700+ for the last 6 months.
Electricity usage 19,228kWh Electricity unit rate 35.80p per kWh -
I make those numbers multiply out to £6883. Add the standing charge for the year and there's your 7k.
Of course, if you use less than the estimate and have your actual usage for the last year, you should be able to argue your case. Alternatively, you do have the option to change to variable DD where each month's bill is taken in full.

@ABD
@retrotecchie has said the DD looks to be correct based on your forecast consumption - the unit rate is correct for the London region.
Electricity is horrendously expensive - 3.5 times the gas unit rate. Having said that it's an above average amount of power to use for a small flat, but electric heating will likely be the majority of it. The warmer you have the flat the more heat it loses and has to be replaced. So I'd suggest limiting temperatures to 19 degree maximum, and nothing when you're in bed. Heating water is expensive to so short cool showers rather than baths are called for. Indeed all the energy saving measures you can put in place. -
Cooking?
19000 kWh in a year is 52 units a day. That is some serious consumption...
My annual consumption in an all-electric detached stone cottage is around 5000kWh a year, or a quarter of what you are using, or forecast to be using.

@ABDI use circa 2,800 kWH of electricity and 14,000 -17,000 kWh of gas, but that for a large extended 3 bed semi. Do you have gas as well? I'd do some serios checking, and its entirely possible that you've a faulty meter.

Thanks @meldrewreborn and @retrotecchie - some useful info here!
@ABD Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot of your meter readings going back over the last 12 months here, from your online account? I have a feeling there may be an issue here with your annual consumption estimate based on some previous readings or something, if you're in credit by the amount you say that you are, something just doesn't quite add up here.Cool 😎 Calm 😌 Collected 🙌 - Here to help, or just for a chat if you like!
