I was hoping the meters themselves might be supplied and managed by a separate company. Sadly that means finding some way to get a response from EonNext to fix the meter. So far there has been no response through any of their contact options.
Is there any way to contact them? If a gas meter is broken I thought that would count as an emergency?
If your gas is still flowing through then its not an emergency, in the sense that you are not without power. What you are without is accurate metering, so your consumption cannot be accurately assessed. @theunknowntech does this meter have any means of recording the flow mechanically, so that when it is examined the reading can be established? If it doesn't then what is stop @bellisinor turning his/her thermostat up high and consuming unmeterable free gas?
Presumeably it's a negotiation afterwards to establish a fair and reasonable consumption based on previous years data.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
If the battery is dead, the entire meter dies. Don't abuse it because you would get caught out eventually. You'll need to get an Emergency Meter exchange, otherwise estimates will be used and that will punish you badly.
If it was in Prepayment Mode, the valve would be closed automatically just before the battery dies.

I'm sorry, but I can't directly answer that question for anti-fraud reasons.
I don't think it would be acceptable to punish a customer for a problem that is the responsibility of the supplier to fix. They'd never fix any meter if that were allowable!
If they can't calculate actual usage it will be worrying as I wasn't living in the property this time last year. An estimate based on this period last year would be based on another (and larger) family's usage.
Any ideas on how to get an EMEX when Eon customer services aren't replying?
