Could someone help me out with setting up my direct debit online?

If you don’t already have a Direct Debit tariff you may have the facility to switch to one in your online account. You would then be required to complete a DD mandate during the application process presumably. This facility was removed recently but is hopefully back again.
You may want to pay by variable DDs instead of a fixed amount every month, in that case you would pay exactly what your bill is each month instead of levelling out your payments through the year. To do that, I would advise you to contact customer service.

… it may be best to use the telephone option to discuss what your best option is.
Please be aware that you will need to be patient when contacting them as they are extremely busy at present.
