Hello; wondering if anyone could assist as I know EoN won’t!
Ive moved into a small flat recently and EoN were the previous tenants suppliers.
I’ve set up an account and they’ve ‘estimated’ a monthly DD of £400 which is bonkers - based on the previous usage of over 5000kwh elec and 13k gas.
I believe the last tenants were illegally subletting and there were several adults living here - doing god knows what….
Living alone; I normally use under 2k elec and 8k gas - in the last week I’ve used £13 of energy - so clearly not going to be £400 a month.
how do I reduce the DD? Or get rid of it altogether? I don’t want to take money out of my savings to pay them for it to sit in their account for months just for them to pay me back!
You may be able to have the DD reduced if you explain the situation to customer services. I'd recommend against cancelling the DD because doing so will inevitably end up costing you more. Having Smart Meters running in Half-Hourly Mode is also one of the fastest ways to fix this problem.
Ultimately, if you end up using less than predicted, you will pay less.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

@Ntg
you can pay by DD after receipt of bill till your consumption can be better assessed.
Some other suppliers don't offer this option -notably OVO.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Anasa, being able to reduce your direct debit via the online account is not strictly true. On that account EONext quote a ridiculously high DD figure which can be reduced by only 10% ..... with the patronising declaration that "we don't want you to get into debt". It's that figure which should be more reasonable and then we could adjust payments ourselves to be more accurate.
