Hi @

Total up your energy usage in kWh for gas and electricity from your bills over the last 12 months (if you're dual fuel), then for each multiply the kWh by your current rates and add the standing charge. You'll now have a good idea of your energy costs for 1 year based on the current rates. From the total deduct your credit balance then divide by 12 to give your estimated monthly cost.
How does this compare to what you're paying?
If it's significantly different then you now have the necessary evidence to request that your DD is updated.
When going this it's important to ignore the £66 Government assistance, that's a temporary bonus payment for 6 months and eon-next will deduct it from your DD payment if necessary.
Thanks I have only now psyched myself up to do these calculations. 🙄
I have calculated our usage of last 10 months* comes to the following at the current rates on my statement:
Electricity @ 49.15p + 48.252p SC = £120.19 p/m
Gas @ 14.003p + 27.128p = £241.50 p/m
= £3616.90 for 10 months
Our current monthly DD is £279.31
Our current credit on account is £1,367.45
Subtracting this from the actual usage above leaves £2249.45.
The difference between our DD and averaged usage over 12 months is +£82.38 p/m (without the EBSS discount). Do we have grounds for refund of some of this credit on account?
(*monthly figures were not available prior to our first bill from Eon in Feb since they took us over from Igloo Energy in Oct 2021)
