I’ve just checked my latest tariff information on my account to be surprised that the unit price for electricity is above the government price cap. Eon are 35.06p and I thought the cap was 34p
Have I completely misunderstood the purpose of the price cap or are there some more intricate calculations that I need to understand?
The average unit price for dual fuel customers paying by direct debit will be limited to 34.0p/kWh for electricity and 10.3p/kWh for gas, inclusive of VAT, from 1 October.
34p is an average unit price. There are other factors at work such as what energy supply area you are in.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Thanks @JoeSoap! That advice got me doing some more research and I found on our favourite money saving expert page a list of all the regional variances….and wow, what variances there are!
