The £66/67 that is deducted from your DD will be paid to your account by the government. Your account will be credited in total by the same amount of your original DD. There is no trickery... it is a real saving for you.
The only issue is exactly when will the government contribution be paid to your account. To me, that is a minor issue... as long as it gets paid at some point in the month.
We must insist on the discount being passed on ASAP. The suppliers get the dosh from the government at the start of the month, they have no reason not to pass it on straight away.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

That's as may be, and in fact it should be on the same day as I read it. All I'm saying is that I'm happy for it to be credited to my account any time in the same month as my DD discount was applied. It will make no difference to my account at the end of the month. They are not strictly gaining anything as they are paying the money to themselves anyway. I won't lose anything if they pay it to my account at the end of the month rather than the beginning.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
If customers actually did nothing about their DD level , probably 99% would find that everything went OK. People though seem to have lost faith in their suppliers ability to get things right, but their efforts to apply their own corrections will only complicate matters. We’ve seen on the forum that many customers really don’t understand Fixed Direct Debits and their processes and their attempts to “take control” just make meters more confused.
The money is in the suppliers bank whether they credit it to our accounts or not. But we’ll get less queries on the forum if they credit it quickly. I’m starting to suspect @JoeSoap is on a piece work rate for his replies here.🤣
the suppliers are not getting anything above the £400 to administer all this. So expect future standing charges to include elements for that, massively abated by interest earned, of course!

Well, at least we agree on the first sentence.
I wish I was on piece work. If I was I would be aiming to beat your amount of posts 😁
My dd is due on the 1st of the month. As it was a weekend it actually was collected on Mon the 3rd thankfully less £67 . As yet the credit to my account of the same amount hasn't materialised. As normal though my online account is saying the payment has not yet been applied. Am I being over optimistic to expect that the £67 credit will appear at the same time the payment is actually applied?
