Thanks for the link @JoeSoap. I agree with your two suggestions and I'll add 5.6:
"Suppliers should aim to provide the EBSS payment to eligible customers on the earliest possible date within the scheme month for all customer payment types, except for Direct Debit customers, where the EBSS payment should be provided in line with the established Direct Debit collection schedule."
It is very clear that the credit to a customers energy account should be in line with the DD collection schedule. As my DD is collected on the 1st (excl. w/e) of the month then my eon-next account should have been credited, which it has not.
It seems that eon-next have fallen foul of the Government Guidelines already.
That’s how it reads to me too.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
I have sent them a DM on Twitter @JoeSoap quoting section 5.32 of the Government Guidance and asking when can I expect it. I can't believe they've got much on at the minute!
I'm bemused. Simply deducting the subsidy from the DD payments is not the same as the subsidy ACTUALLY being credited to pay for household energy consumption. Perhaps I'm being slow; more coffee perhaps ...
they have had months to implement this £400 discount. The guidance is pretty clear (although rather wordy) the supplier gets the money from the government at the start of the month and should apply it to customers accounts ASAP.
the EPG has been implemented in a much shorter timeframe and is bound to have even greater quirks.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
This months payment was £120 - 66.66 = £53.34, this amount (£53.34) showed on my homepage and is pending payment at that amount on homepage and only the £53.34 withdrawn from my bank (so all good there) . Next months payment showed £75.34 which is less the £66.66 from Gov help. Since I'm well in credit I tried to lower this amount and the lowest I could go was £129, so I clicked on this amount thinking my homepage summary for the next payment would now show £61.34 (less the £66.66), but now it shows £129 as my next payment!!!
So does this now mean my next DD out of my bank will be £129 and not £61.34?
Looks like in trying to lower my DD I've now messed up the discount.
This is why I'm confused. They've subtracted the subsidy from your DD, not from your ACTUAL usage / credited your account. Considering you're also in credit; how has the government subsidy actually benefitted you? Where did it go? (:
@darkgen I have edited my message as only the £53.34 was actually taken from my bank this month, I just hoping they don't take £129 next month from my bank then add £66.66 on top of that meaning I'm even more in credit. Worst still, as the £66.66 was showing on next months payment as a deduction and now I've changed the amount it isn't now showing as a deduction on the total amount due is that they won't give it me. It's all up in the air.

The £66/67 that is deducted from your DD will be paid to your account by the government. Your account will be credited in total by the same amount of your original DD. There is no trickery... it is a real saving for you.
The only issue is exactly when will the government contribution be paid to your account. To me, that is a minor issue... as long as it gets paid at some point in the month.
