We had a smart meter installed on the 7th September. It sent a meter reading to Eon-Next on the 8th September. From what I can see on the IHD, it started a new billing period today, but it doesn’t appear to have sent anymore meter readings to Eon-Next. Does anyone know when the meter readings are supposed to be automatically sent to Eon-Next? Or does it differ for each meter? If I end up needing to send manual readings, how do I read our new smart meter? It is a smets 2, and the chap who installed it said it is a dual rate meter. Eon-Next always mistakenly think were on economy 7, which we’re not, we’re actually on a single rate, but because the meter is dual rate, it should still show a day and night reading. Our old meter used to show R1 and R2, but the new meter shows Import, Export and the bill amount. (See the attached photos)
Help appreciated, thanks
I have looked at this page of instructions on reading meters and none of them relate to my meter (main meter not IHD).
I don’t have solar panels either.
When I look at the various menus on the main meter I cannot see a menu that shows Day or Night, Low or Normal, Rate 1 or Rate 2, A1 or A2, R1 or R2. I get menus on Messages, Billing, Security and Info. Within those are more menus but no clear route to get to the actual readings.
Meanwhile the IHD, which has functioned fine for several months, has now stopped working showing no energy usage since yesterday morning and the old tariff rates.
If you have the same smart meter as I do, the EDMI ES-12B, the following instructions should work. I followed them and was able to find the R1, R2 and so on.
If you're a 2 rate customer, follow these steps;
Hold OK until it enters the ‘Main Menu’, you will see ‘Billing’ appear
Hold OK to enter the ‘Billing’ sub-menu
Using the arrows, scroll to ‘Advanced’ (2 pushes of the > button)
Hold OK to enter the ‘Advanced’ sub-menu, you will see ‘TOUmtrx’ appear
Hold OK to enter the ‘TOUmatrx’ sub-menu, you will see ‘RATE1’ appear
Use the arrows to cycle the rates you need to submit (Rate 1, Rate 2, …)
i don’t have a smart meter but can’t you use a search engine to get the manual for your meter?
Somebody else with experience can answer your other questions.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

I searched online and could not find an explanation for the Import/Export data shown on my electricity meter which is the same as shown by BatchOxO - I seem to recall the installer saying that one referred to daytime usage and the other to night time.
Can any one confirm?
It can take up to 6 weeks for your meter to start sending readings, the reading on your account will likely be what the installer has entered.
You need the services of @theunknowntech to help with reading the meter, and to check that if it's configured correctly I think.
You can also get the meter reading on your IHD.
I thought import export related to usage compared to solar panel generation returned to the grid. But i’m not an expert. Is it really a two rate meter?
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Thanks for your suggestion, I eventually found instructions on how to read our particular meter.
You're right, we have solar panels, so the 'import' refers to how much energy we have used, and the 'export' refers to how much energy has been exported back to the grid.

'Import' refers to how much energy we have used, and 'export' refers to how much energy has been exported back to the grid if you have solar panels.
