Hi, we have a tenant with eon and eon is charging then £2 standing charge before elctircity useage, anyway if the economy fails and we hit recession then they'll expect me the landlord to keep paying them 150£ a mont just for it being connected, so i am happy to find a qualified person to remove the meter and send it back to whombever or Eon, i really don't car who has it back, does anybody know the exact way that this needs to be be done, thank you
I'm not entirely sure but would imagine whoever has the contract would have to contact Eon Next to terminate the electricity supply. Perhaps someone else can confirm this.
The standing charge for electricity is around 46p/day for electricity from today if paying by DD so would amount to around £14 per month.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
The electricity standing charge on a variable rate tariff paying by DD is from 33p to 53p per day from today - it varies by region. These are not affected by the government's energy price guarantee.
There are very few people who could live without an electricity supply today, so I wonder quite why you'd want the meter disconnected.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
In addition, you'd end up paying at least £150 to remove the meter, potential costs from the DNO to rip out everything... And then at least another £150 to reconnect just for the costs of installing a new meter - and DNO fees on top. It's not worth it.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Hi, thank you for taking the time to respond, i wasn't aware of these changes today, and have been going off what my tenant tells me, and it's in my OP, wht i would want this meter disconected as Eon want to charge £2 a day for just the meter being there before any electricy is being used, i'm not happy to pay them £60 a month for nothing or whatever the cost maybe if it rises beyond that at some stage, if my only option is to have the meter removed then that's what i would be prepared to do, Eon very expensive and also chasing Landlords for the money that the tenant owes even after providing the leasehold documentation and even after supplying them with the tenants new address details. thanks

Suppose you have a point, i will weigh up the costs at the time if iam put in this dilema, shouldn't have to be charged for anything unless it's being used the mter sits there and does nothing unless it's being used. thanks
