How is EOn applying the Govt £400 subsidy payment
I understood that the subsidy would be a £66 reduction on the energy bill ea h month for 6 months.
looking at our bill which is substantially in credit EON has simply reduced our direct debit payment by £66 and not applied a credit to the energy bill for the month. Is this another slight of hand move by the energy companies and Govt ?
@Miro I have just posted this exact same query ! This is not a rebate from them as it just means we are paying less . So less off our monthly bill . I assumed we would have the rebate alongside our reduced payment
I think the rebate will be shown in your next bill once they have billed you against the new rates. I assume you get monthly statements on the 15th of each month like myself. I would imagine the rebate would be shown on the bill to offset the reduced direct debit.
I too have submitted my readings, and received my online bill for 17/10/22 but no rebate shown. No doubt they'll blame the computer, just as they are blaming it for showing the wrong tariffs on Standard Variable Accounts from 1st of October.
I'm confused. I pay 126 a month direct debit monthly, received an email saying my DD would be £59 on the 3rd October.
I noticed that my DD payment to eon next had been changed on my bank app to £59, therefore different to my usual £126.
Sent meter readings yesterday, got a statement through saying my DD will be £59 on the 3rd, but asking me to change my DD payment on eon next app to £115. This is now to be my DD payment as of the start of November.
Does this mean I will pay £59 DD on the 3rd October then £115 DD for my November payment, or will the Government's help be reduced on the new £115 eon DD request?
It sounds like the £115 factors in the discount but still has to rise anyway to account for the rest.

I have the same problem.
My direct debit is now apparently being reduced to £59 when my fix is about to end in 6 days and bills are going up significantly.
My concern is, if I increase my direct debit voluntarily as I don’t want to underpay over the next few months, will the government payment still be taken off my new direct debit amount? Or by increasing it am I saying I don’t want the discount!
Why on earth don’t they just take it off the bill amount and keep direct debit payments the same?? I’m sure I didn’t need a payment reduction, just not such a big increase!
@theunknowntech Thank you for the reply. Am I right in saying then that eon will take £59 DD on the 3rd October then in November they will take a DD payment for £115 minus the Government help of £67, meaning a DD payment of £48?
