Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
E mail received this morning from Eon.
"Hi John,
Thank you for getting in touch.
The tariff will change in October, hence we recommend staying on a fixed term contract as we will amend the unit price to fall in line with the new prices.
You don't need to change your current fixed tariff straight away! As we have no exit fees you can of course change your tariff at any point should you wish to do so."
Let's see what happens to the unit rates on Saturday
They keep telling us to wait and there's no need to do anything straight away but no mention, except in one email response that was posted on this forum a while back, of any back-dated compensation for following their advice.
I do wonder if those who didn't follow their advice and switched to the Next Flex as soon as the EPG was announced will be better off than those who did follow their advice.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
If people end up out of pocket by following the advice then there will be a huge public outcry and calls for compensation.
A better business decision will be to treat the affected customers fairly. That would be logical, but this is Eon next so we’ll have to wait and see. Personally my gas will be cheaper after 1 October but the amount i’ve Used at the higher prices is so small any refund will not buy a pint in my local!
Absolutely ridiculous that at the time of writing this we are 1 day away from prices increasing drastically, and there has still been no info on what the prices will be for the fixed tariffs (they will probably be updated now I've written that!).
I have been told twice now via email that there is no need for me to come off the v19 tariff, yet in my account the prices haven't been changed and my next direct debit is showing as being £100 more than I am paying now - and that is with the £67 off from the Government.
I agree because I am in the same position despite repeated attempts to get information from Eon.
However it seems very clear that it's best to remain on the fixed tarif. Any prices below the new cap should remain, while any above should reduce to the level of the 1st October cap.
But Eon should have had the decency to confirm this well before today's date.
I am amazed that Eon has answered these emails. I have sent them 3 emails now and not so much as an acknowledgement.
Is there a system that I am missing?
