Apologies if this is already answered, the forum isn’t east to navigate on my phone
I’m on eon next online v14 until June and had expected some information on what the epg would do to my rates but there hasn’t been any information from eon next except indication of dropping my direct debit due to the £400 rebate
its hard to plan if there isn’t information and it’s nearly october. Given combinations of electric, gas and standing charges it’s not straight forward I do appreciate but being able to compare standard rate to the adjusted rates would be nice. especially as it means I have been overpaying since June at the least :( (but who knew they’d cap unit prices!)
I don’t know v14 rates off-hand but if they’re higher than the EPG (new rates) due in October then your rates will drop to that level. If they’re lower then you will stay on that tariff until it ends.
Some very recent fixes, even after the rate drops from the EPG, will still be above the EPG rates being applied to variable tariffs. This is because for fix tariffs reductions are set as "up to" a certain level in actual pence, and not down to the EPG variable rates. So it really does depend on the V14 (or any other tariff) actual prices levels.
If somebody posts an example of their V14 rates we'd be able to advise better.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

@andydragonlooking at my region for v14 (Next Online DD version) the electricity rate (37.44p/kWh) is higher than the new Oct cap, but the gas rate is lower (9.73p/kWh). If you stayed on v14 you would get no further unit price reduction on your gas rate (as V14 is below the October cap of 10.3p/kWh) but you should get a slight reduction on your electricity rate down to 34.0p/kWh. You need to factor in the standing charges and calculate what is best for your circumstances (using your usage figures if you have them), but it looks like you might be better off sticking on v14 until it runs out.

I use different suppliers, as in the past this enabled me to get better prices than dual fuel offering, but now it has an added advantage oof being able to leave a fix if it unattractive, while keeping the other fix in place.

What a pity that Eon Next cannot do the same. All they say at the moment is to contact customer services on 1st October to find out the unit rates. Quite poor really, when customers should be having the information before the 1st October. I wonder what the wait time is on the telephone trying to speak to customer services on that day. Last week I tried to speak to them but after waiting on the phone for 57 minutes, eventually gave up.

The Next Online v14 Direct Debit Version
Electricity agreements
Unit rates: 38.37 p/kWh Including VAT
Standing charge:42.24 p/dayIncluding VAT
Gas agreements
Unit rates: 9.84 p/kWh Including VAT
Standing charge:27.22 p/day Including VAT
Indeed, if they published the information, they would save a lot of enquiries to customer services. And most people (everybody on the variable tariffs) will be seeing an average increase in unit prices of circa 25% from 1 October. Energy suppliers are supposed to give reasonable notice (how long is a piece of string?) of increased prices. Tomorrow is the 26th of September and the price increases are said to be from 1 October, just 5 days later.
Is that reasonable? - I don't think so. I can foresee a flood of formal complaints to any company that gives such short notice.
The gas standing charge on V14 is below the level of the OFGEM October price cap (28.49p) and thus will remain. The EPG doesn't change standing charge rates.
The electricity standing charge on V14 has to be compared to the level of the OFGEM price cap (33.16 to 52.64p depending on region). The EPG doesn't change standing charge rates.
The lowest regional unit price for gas under the EPG is likely to be 10.2p and so V14 is likely to be lower in all cases, and thus remain unchanged.
Electricity under the EPG will be 33p to 36 p (region dependant) so V14 rates will need to come down accordingly.
regional rates make this complicated to comment on - if one doesn't know the region!😉 But I'd guess Eastern, if I had to. 35.05p per kWh electricity. 38.94p per day standing charge, on the variable EPG.
