Hello, I have a very serious problem, my DD is going from £75 to £258.74 and even with the £66/67 payback, at £192 that is pushing me into a choice of food or heating.
I have 2 children and heating, obviously, is going to be the loser. I'm on Universal Credit but also work.
I cannot pay this £192 bill each month it's too much. I cannot edit or manage this DD as it won't allow me to reduce the amount, this is wholly wrong and what is the point of having an option you are deliberately locked out of.
I will greatly reduce my usage, tolerate the cold and pay what is due but I cannot sustain this price hike.
I'm sure many more people are in a similar situation.
I would like to change to quarterly payments so I can manage my money better for me, not for eon but you are then financially penalised with a cost increase for choosing that method. It baffles me how four payments are more expensive than twelve and I would love someone to explain that to me when both methods would be via digital transfer.
This is sad and we’ll hear a lot more of this. You can drop your DD by up to 10% in your online account. It may not be of much help but it’s quick to do and is in your control.
You will need to speak to customer service for advice on what further help you can get.
Thank you for the reply JoeSoap. The option to manage the DD will not work it greys out the save button even if I try to reduce it by £1. I've been doing some number crunching in Excel I can't get near their estimated £258, closest I got was £158 with a £67 assistance payment for 6 months it comes to approx £91 not ideal but doable. I'll speak to a customer advisor when I get home and put my case across, as my figure makes more sense based on 2 years expenditure and 3 months extrapolated data based on my spending trend in the last three month of the year.
