It is possible, but it depends on things like the size of the business and whether an actual Smart Meter is fitted rather than just an AMR (Automatic Meter Reader) device is fitted. If an AMR is fitted, there's no possibility for having an IHD.

Most meters in business premises have a provision to connect a set of contacts to your BMS system or to a standalone energy monitor.
It won't give you any 'smart' functionality in and of itself as it is usually just a transistor switch that allows you to send a pulse to your systems. You get one pulse with each flash of the impulse indicator, i.e. 1 pulse per watt hour used.
I fitted a submeter to my house in order to keep a separate record of my business usage. This meter has a pulse output which is connected to an interface on one of my PCs. I just banged out a bit of code to count pulses per minute, correlate that into consumption and then dump that into a rolling graph displaying my usage over the day.
The meter itself records the aggregate kWh, which I just subtract from my household consumption to get a figure for my business usage.
