Hello - My current tariff ends on 22 Oct 22 and my Eon Next online account has a box telling me I am 'Ready to renew' - however, there is only a Next Flex tariff with a KW charge of 60p day tariff available - I thought the recent Government input meant that KW's would be limited to about 34p max? Is it that the offer has yet to be updated after all the changes - should I hold out to change tariff until after October 1st. Any wise advice please.
I can't see anything like 60p/kWh on the Next Flex tariffs I can find. My guess is that they haven't updated the tariffs you're being offered from the original expected 80% October rise yet.
If your tariff is coming to and end then you will revert to Next Flex anyway where you should pay the current rates until the end of the month before moving to the new rates on 1 Oct when the rates should increase to more the figure you expect at 34p/kWh.
It sounds like you are on a dual rate so use that figure as a guide and not an actual.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Once again thanks for that link - the Next Flex Eco 7 rate on that list is far less expensive (per KW) than the one on my active online Eon account - do you think they will eventually update the offer - as I said the rates quoted (copied here) are:
Things are moving slowly it seems. Let's hope we find out exactly what the new rates are soon. If your tariff ends on 22 Sep then if you do nothing you will revert to Next Flex in any case. I'm (fairly) confident all will work out ok otherwise the phone lines will be even busier than they are now.
i am in the same boat. My tariff ends on 22nd october the only one i can select is the flex at £411 a month!!! Going through emails they were offering a fixed v20 online tariff on sept 7th which is not in the renew section. Im hoping this monthly amount updates to a more reasonable price.
I would wait out - seems a lot of confusion at the moment - probably not easy for energy companies either (to be fair) - I suspect 1 Oct will be when they start refreshing tariffs. Even so, worst fate would be going onto the standard variable rate on 23 Oct (which might actually be worthwhile) then changing tariff if an offer crops up later.
Personally, its a shame that armed with my smart meter and half hourly readings directly to Eon Next my direct debit never really sits comfortably with my usage (given that I was £940 in credit) - while I accept likely increased usage in colder months I don't understand why the 'master computer' doesn't review accounts more often?
Just catching up with this thread and noticed I mis-read your opening post. I read 22 Sep instead of 22 Oct.
Your current tariff will be better than the new EPG rates starting on 1 Oct so yes, just sit tight and revert to Next Flex when your fix ends. The same indeed applies to @S3dn.
No recent fixed rates would have beaten the coming SVR so moving to Next Flex will be as good as it can be for you both as far as I can see.
It is extremely unlikely that suppliers will offer any fixed rates in the short term while they evaluate the future effect of the EPG on their business. The EPG effectively fixes variable rates for 2 years and with current wholesale prices forecast to remain high it would be difficult to promote uncompetitive fix rates against the EPG. In my opinion.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
