Several weeks ago I signed up for Fixed v19 at a rate rather higher than the variable rate because with the predictions of higher rates in October and January it seemed to make sense.
The V19 Ts&Cs included 'no exit fees'.
Now with, with the change to support for bills I want to exercise my right to exit v19 and revert to standard variable rate immediately. (Why do I want to pay so much more for the next 3 weeks until the newly announced scheme starts?
I have tried very hard to find the page on my dashboard where I can exercise my right to exit, without fees.
How do I shift my account from v19 to standard variable so that I can take immediate advantage of the lower rate that would offer me?
I’d send an email requesting the change. Then you have proof of your request and the change can be applied later back to the date of your request. Make sure to include enough details for you account to be correctly identified.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Whilst awaiting a response to your email, as rightly suggested by @meldrewreborn above, you may find this post of interest. I don't know if you make the same of it as I do but it would be interesting to see if you get the same response.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
While there is advice to do nothing, there is no justification for Eon next or any other supplier to refuse the legitimate request to exit the fix. But i can see why they want people to wait, but will they (the suppliers) guarantee that the customer will not face higher bills by doing so?
I merely offered a link to @Tim60 which shows a previous response to a similar request. I didn’t suggest not requesting to move to the SVR immediately. I was curious to see if the reply to that previous request was still being put out.
In actual fact, it may make the O.P. decide to phone customer service so as to insist the tariff change take place immediately rather than wait for an email reply only to be told to sit tight.
Personally I would welcome any information that helped me make the right decision.
I am still on my fixed tariff and of course want to move to the SVR, but that reply that I linked to is suggesting that if I sit tight then the reduction to the SVR will take effect from the date I signed up to my fix. That would leave me better off than switching back immediately, so on the strength of that reply, from my supplier, I am doing just that… sitting tight.
It still seems we don’t know what to do for the best and will only know if we made the right choices in retrospect.
Confusion reigns. I've just read an email from MSE. He's now saying his reading of the government rules is that those on fixes will only get reductions to the level of the variable EPG and no further. see here:
This is in stark contrast to the Government's earlier energy bills factsheet number 8. in effect it means that unless you've a cheap fix from long ago which would not change, you'll be paying the new EPG rates going forward. But energy suppliers can't issue any new rates yet because the rules from government have not been finalised. What a mess!
I will try to find the E.ON email address. It all seems a bit amateurish, and the website is really hard to navigate.
I found that the email confirming my V19 switch said to 'reply' if I needed to contact them, and the email has enough details to identify me and my account.
