How do I get through to someone at E-on that can process my request to link my smart meters?
We had a new gas supply connected to our property last November and the meter could not be linked at the time to our electric meter as our electric account had already migrated to E-on Next and the gas supply account would be with E-on.
Our gas supply account has now finally migrated to E-on Next, but the "Energy Specialist" I spoke to today insisted that it still could not be done, company policy etc. I asked several times to speak with the smart metering team in the UK, so I could discuss this as I believe someone will need to attend the property to do this, but this staff member would not put me through!
If someone at E-on could advise me on this I would be grateful.
I'd raise a formal complaint. There is no logical reason why your gas meter should be dumb, and Eon next and Eon are fundamentally the same organisation and the switch wasn't your doing. If we put up with rubbish service then we will get the same for ever.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
I will need to consider my response carefully... Please stand by...
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

I raised a complaint over two weeks ago, which has now been closed! Apparently the metering team will contact me...who knows when!!
Its closed when they have resolved your complaint in my view. passing it onto the metering team isn't a resolution. But give them one more chance then take it to the ombudsman.
Based on the information in this thread, I'd take the case to the ombudsman. It is absolutely possible to link a gas meter/GSME (Gas Smart Metering Equipment) to the same existing Comms Hub after the electric meter/ESME (Electric Smart Metering Equipment) and Comms Hub have already been commissioned, even if it means doing so on a different date. And with SMETS2, the suppliers don't even have to be the same ones either - as long as the electric meter is upgraded first, the gas meter can be done later.
