@JoeSoap Thanks for the quick response. I don’t have the email! But I fortunately took a screenshot of the tariff offer! Which clearly says no exit fees!!! So we will see what happens when they announce the prices.
@Barrovian I did the same, my sister is with Eon Next and I said it’s best to fix, you can only be guided by the info we were given at the time. Eon wouldn’t be very clever by not allowing people to switch to a lower tariff, imo.
Hopefully EonNext will proactively contact customers who are on a fixed deal and alert them should it be cheaper to swap to another tariff. I did raise this question a few months back with Eon on messenger. 👍👍
@meldrewreborn
Don't get me wrong, I'm far from convinced that the (anticipated) new strategy is the right one. It smacks of 'kicking the can down the road' to me and sure as eggs are eggs, we'll all have to pay up later either in higher taxes or higher bills. But when you are only 6 weeks into a fixed rate tariff that is going to end up being a lot more that we were told to expect the SVR to be in October (I'm looking at you, Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert) then I'd be foolish to continue paying the higher rate. I'd rather keep the difference in my bank and try and build up a bit of a buffer for when the bills really do go up. As they inevitably will😞
@RobClarke
I got worried and wanted to move from the SVR to Next online V19 on the 25th August it was 1am and then my wiifi went down, I re-connected at 11am to discover V19 had suddenly been replaced with V20 which was more expensive I had no choice but to jump onto with all the media hype frightening everyone. My estimated annual amount is now a staggering £4243.80 which at the time seemed cheaper than the £6k figure being quoted from January next year! Once I had moved onto V20 I can no longer see what other tariffs are available. I am awaiting a response from EON to move back to the SVR 🙄
Hopefully EonNext will proactively contact customers who are on a fixed deal and alert them should it be cheaper to swap to another tariff. I did raise this question a few months back with Eon on messenger. 👍👍
I believe it's a requirement that energy suppliers must notify their customers of the cheapest tariff, it's usually on your monthly bill.
