I am on a fixed dual tariff and e.on are asking me to send them electricity reading because they cannot access the meter, despite the fact that I can access it with no problems via the Loop app.
So, anyway, I went to check the reading on the meter and, apart from the fact that it is nothing like the one described in "How to read your smart meter" on the e.on website, I can find no way of displaying dual tariff readings.
The IHD shows the 2 tariffs, although it shows them as running from different times to the e.on account page.
I'm not going to bother phoning e.on about this since I am now 70 and I may not live long enough to get a response. Could be worse I suppose, I need to contact Virgin Media who make e.on seem positively hyperactive.
Does the display on your meter show any reading? They normally display the reading for the rate currently being used, I assume you're on E7 or E10. I'm on E7 and I had the same problem as you with reading the meter.
If you can post a photo of your meter someone will be able to tell you how to get both readings. Alternatively, assuming your meter displays the rate currently being used, your IHD should have the total of both readings. So if I read my meter when it's on the Day rate, I subtract that from the total on the IHD to get the Night reading. There are different IHDs so if you could post a picture of it I can help if it's the same as mine.
The meter is an EDMI ES-10B and the IHD is a SmartView2
I just found the manual for the meter online so I'll have a play with that in the mean time.
I noticed, last night, that the IHD show the low rate running from 0100 - 0830
But e.on said it was 0030 - 0730, which is in line with the original Economy 7 meter I had.
It would be useful to know what it actually is.
The default display on the meter is just the total used the same as the IHD
Most of the time, the IHD will only show the active rate I'm afraid. Some might show both, but the SmartView 2 definitely isn't one of them.

Indeed. The SmartView2 teases you by displaying the current rate as 1 of 2 but has no means of switching to the other rate.
As I woke up at 0600 I went to the garage to check the IHD and it was displaying the other rate, so it does work.
Fortunately I've now managed to navigate the menus on the meter itself, so I can find the actual usage now.
OK, so maybe it's more of a User Guide.
But since I wasn't intending to reverse engineer the comms or swap out any electronics it was adequate for my needs.
My main concern now is that e.on haven't recorded a reading from my meter since 10 Feb 2022.
I only found out because someone came round to read the meter (which is external and accessible when no one is at home), but left a card to say they got no answer.
I logged into the account and found that e.on were "having trouble reading my meter"
Not sure why since I get updates with no problem via the Loop app, so Loop can access the data
