I have a feeling that by tying it to having a smart meter is the reason for offering it, but i do have one and was still accepted.
Finally, the option for V4 came up on my app today. Much as I usually resist the urge to fix, we're only 11 days into the new Flex tariff, so I've done the maths and even if the next price cap drops below the fix, I stand to save about £20 between now and October.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
That will be interesting to see. I figured there wouldn’t be much of a difference for me in the long run but there were some short term small gains to be made. I figured it was worth a fix as who knows what could happen within a year. There’s always the chance to switch tariffs if something better comes along.

I was offered the V4 fix a couple of weeks ago. Did the sums and it saves £44 a year on reduced fixed costs which is encouraging - against which there's the £75 penalty per fuel if the contract is terminated if and when something better comes along.
I wasn't entirely convinced so decided to wait.
Pretty glad I did because Eon is now offering a me £50 reward to switch to switch to the V4 fix. Have others been offered this deal - and if so did you accept? My gut feeling is that it is a good offer and I should accept!
