That 3p is a "what is the lowest which we might get away with number" unrelated to last week's wholesale electricity price, which I understand was near to 8p/kWh. I have no idea why household bills are only going to go down from about 32p to about 31p/kWh; the recent wholesale price drop ought to have given households a much bigger saving. Presently the solar installers are trying quite hard to get you to buy bigger batteries for much of your household surplus. Try looking up 'solar diverter', which is a switch thing to drop much of your surplus solar generation to heat in a hot water tank I think.
Whilst insultingly low, at least they are not as bad as EoN.

Hi @Carlos77 Appreciate this is an older thread, however I just wanted to give you an update. We do review SEG prices over the course of a year, with these changes usually happening in and around January. Obviously this year has been a little different, a slightly different approach was taken. I can only put this down to the way the market is at the moment.
It's my understanding that the rate is being looked at and there should be an update hopefully this month or early July. Let me know if you need anything moving forward.
Thanks
Lee

wholesale costs are only part of the retail pricing, albeit a major element. If you look at the OFGEM website you’ll get a much better idea of why retail prices are as they are.
but the prices paid for solar generation are pitiful compared to retail pricing and are relying on customer inertia - the reluctance to switch. I’m a great believer in voting with one’s feet when that is a realistic option.
