Has anyone got an Elster AS300P meter running as a multi-rate meter with Eon Next?
There are several references to this meter on the web that say it can be used as a multi-rate meter but customer support are telling me that I would have to pay to have a new meter fitted if I wanted to change to an Economy 7 tariff. Is this correct or can this type of meter be re-configured for multi-rate?
For info, the meter has been migrated onto the DCC network but it was originally fitted by Eon in any case.
Any info re. the AS300P for multi-rate use would be much appreciated please.
@BGT Ah... if it's set up as a single rate at the moment, we won't be able to change it over for you to a multi rate. Our tech team are working on that as we speak!
As far as I'm aware, yes that meter is compatible. I see no reason why it needs to be replaced. @Beki_EONNext has been informed.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Thank you both for your replies. This makes a lot of sense.
@Beki_EONNext When you say that the team are working on getting set up to be able to switch these meters from single rate to multi rate (presumably remotely) will they need to do the same thing in order to offer the Next Drive tariff too? i.e. is the timescale the same for both of these options becoming available?
@BGT I only know the Next Drive was paused due to the energy crisis.
I will be able to ask the question though when the team are in on Monday. It would be a waste of resources to come out and change a smart meter to ensure customers had the capability to have a EV tariff.
Are you buying or have you got an EV? I would really love to get one so have been doing a bit of research. I have a large, young family and I don't think there is much out there at the moment for us!
I know what you mean - the price of family size EVs is insane isn't it!! We have a plug-in hybrid so we only ever use fuel if we need to go on a longer trip. All short trips are in EV mode.
I'm conscious that EV talk might be going a bit off topic for the Economy 7/10 Community Board but having said that these tariffs are the only option available for lower priced overnight charging until Next Drive becomes available so I'm guessing that quite a few EV owners might be looking at this board for the same reason!
Thanks for your offer to speak with the team. It would be very helpful for me to know whether Next Drive will require a meter that has been configured for multi-rate or not.
We have an Elster AS300P, it's supposed to have a day and night rate, I can't find the night rate screen {can't supply a night reading} ---supposed to press middle button etc, what is meant to happen, doesn't, Eon Next have been no help at all, if there is anybody out there that could help, it would be much appreciated
