    Hi,

If the contract expires and you don't renew, you'll go onto standard variable automatically. The rates will be whatever is available at that time. I can't tell you what they'll be in advance though.

Closer to the date Eon next will outline your options with them. If you do nothing you'll join 80+% of the population on the price capped flex variable tariff. Another increase in the price cap is likely in October 2022 - probably an average of 45% but averages cover a lot of different increase. If you have gas heating the increase will likely be more, if you are all electric the increase will likely be less.

The energy companies sometimes offer fix priced deals, but nothing like they did a year ago. These will always be more than the price of the current variable rates, while the current supply shortage of gas continues..

The current variable price capped rates when paying via Direct debit are in a post I made in the Price Cap Q&A on 31/03/2022. its on page 12. If you click on this link and keep going down you'll find it.

I would have given you a better link but I think because it was a while ago the system will not allow me to copy and paste a better link.

These will apply to end September after which new rates , as yet unknown, will replace them. Energy companies are not keen on losing money so you should not expect fix rate deals to be that attractive at present. and any on offer will not last long as wholesale prices are so volatile.

    Morning @Frankie

Welcome to the community, I love your profile pic we had a little budgie named sky who looked very similar 🐦

Both @theunknowntech & @meldrewreborn are right, closer to your renewal time you will be sent a quote with the best fixed rate that we have available for you at that time. If you choose not to fix then you would be automatically placed on to the standard variable tariff. When you log in to your online account closer to the time you will also be able to get a quote for renewal or you can contact our energy specialists and they will be able to go through all of your options for you.

The price cap is due to be reviewed again which would come into effect from 1st October so if you were to be on a variable tariff then keep in mind that the price could increase again in October. meldrewreborn has directed you to the Price Cap Q&A thread which has lots of valuable information. You might also want to check out ofgem to see how the price cap could affect your household 😊

No worries. I don't work for any energy supplier myself and I'm not an E.On Next customer, so I can't comment on the phone queues.

Personally I'd recommend going back onto a fixed rate deal for as long as possible, because the savings you'll make in the long term will ultimately crush whatever miniscule savings you'll make on variable rate in the final two months or so before it shoots up. Be sure to shop around as other suppliers may have better deals. You'll need to do it manually though, as half the price comparison sites are spitting out bad data right now.
