Do you need phone signal?

Ok - a question - we would like a smart phone but have poor mobile reception. Do you need good reception?

Hi @keithp ,
That actually depends on where you are in the UK. If you're up in Scotland or Northern England for example, then the mobile signal isn't a problem because the Arqiva WAN up there uses Long-Range Radio instead. If you're in the Central or Southern Territory though, the Cellular based Telefonica WAN comes into play. A signal on the O2 network is required in order to make things work here, but there are tricks to improve the signal if needed. Examples include using an SKU2 Comms Hub with a T1 or T2 Booster Aerial, or in extreme cases, a monster T3 Booster Aerial (which is an absolute monster!).
If all of those fail, it may be possible to get a connection via a Mesh network instead (not for the Arqiva WAN). Only if all possible options fail will it be impossible to upgrade.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Ok. We are in Yorkshire - Scarborough. The typical signal is 1 - 2 bars on a smart phone. Eon tried to install a smart meter 4 years ago - but got no signal. Hence the query.
