There has been a lot of talk surrounding a new tariff that we will be offering to selected long-term existing E.ON Next customers; and I am here to address all of your thoughts, questions and quieries surrounding it! 💛

So, what is it Hannah?

Our Next Loyalty 24M Fixed Rate is for high usage customers and is priced at £2,450 (Ofgem average). The individual unit rate prices can vary from area to area so it will be best to follow your quote 😊

This tariff is an incentive for you guys, we appreciate our customers and we ALWAYS want the best for you! 💌

How do I know if I am eligible?

You will have received further information from us, in the form of a letter, phonecall or email. We will tell you more about the tariff and how to claim it.
We're trialling this currently and are always looking for new ways to offer our customers better options, so don't worry if you've not heard about this one

Hmm, I'm not sure that it's really about loyalty if you're only offering it to high usage customers.

If you target high usage customers you might lower the standing charge and increase the unit prices. Suppliers could do this on the standard variable tariff but they would lose money as most customers use relatively small amounts of energy, and they'd lose more money in standing charges than they would gain on the unit prices. The price cap doesn't set actual prices it sets limits at particular levels of consumption. So the prices for their reference customer must not exceed so much at zero units (so in effect setting the maximum standing charge) and another amount (inclusive of the standing charge) at so many units (3,100 kWh electricity and 12,000kWh for gas). If the supplier chose to set the standing charge at zero they could charge a much higher unit price. In practice the suppliers charge the maximum standing charge they can, presumably because this maximises revenue.

But if you can take smaller consumption users out of the picture the equation could change. And you can do that on fix priced tariffs because they are out with the price cap. I know you know this, but others might not!

The other thing is what prices are going to do over the 24 month period. If prices go up still further you'll be happy on your fixed rate, but if prices were to fall (we can only hope!) you could exit your expensive fix and go elsewhere, because eon next don't charge exit fees.

I don't disagree with any of that @meldrewreborn, I was just making an observation about it being a 'Loyalty' tariff when it seems to be based on consumption.
Can someone be 'loyal' to a brand that's been in existence for less than two years?

@SteveC5 It's a shame you've opted out of any marketing communications as we always let our customers know if and when there is a better offer for them.
