I was transferred to E.On from Symbio, who had a smart meter fitted for me in 2021.
I understand that it is the latest model and it came with an IHD.
Not long after E.On took over, the IHD stopped working with a "Lost Network" message.
I read that E.On may not be able to tune into the meter for a couple of weeks.
I then asked if the IHD could be fixed and was told, no because we did not fit it.
I asked if E.On could read the smart meter and was again told no.
Here we are, five calendar months from the unwanted but enforced transfer and still, E.On cannot read the meter or fix the IHD.
I cannot request an E.On smart meter because one of the conditions is that I must not already have a smart meter.
Why are they called "smart" meters and if they are smart, at what point is E.On going to become smart enough to read it and make the IHD work?
I suspect that the answer is never and that the entire smart meter program is in fact a very expensive fiasco.
Thanks for any constructive advice, as there is none forthcoming from E.On.
I've had a look at your account and I can see that there have been many attempts to reconnect you remotely from our end, but I think we are long overdue sending a report to the DCC. If they cannot connect it back up, then we will most likely have to come to your home and connect from there, or replace the meter. I will pop you a DM also as I believe this needs to be logged as a complaint. 😊
I can try to help, but I could do with photos of everything please. Once I have those, I'll see what I can do.
Thanks

I'm with you on this. I too was with Symbio, but I don't have smart meters. So my transfer went relatively smoothly.
I strongly suggest you take regular readings from the meters and update your account manually. Do this especially on April 1 because the price cap changes then. Are you getting bills from Eon?

Hello and thank you for your reply.
I have bills and am submitting regular meter readings which are keeping my account and payments up to date.

Many thanks.
Here are the pictures, on the meter, all of the LEDs flash, except the gas one of course.
E.On tell me that they cannot read my meter, I have to read it myself and upload the meter readings.
My friend Blastoise186 happens to know someone who works at Geo, but I don't think I need their expertise in this case. There appears to be a fault with your HAN that needs further investigation. Let me see if @HannahD_EONNext can try a few tricks, otherwise this will probably need an engineer visit.
I've had a look at your account and the few tricks I know haven't worked, but fear not we have a whole team of smart experts who have plenty more tricks up their sleeve! The good news is when you spoke to Ian from our digi team last month he sent all the details over to the smart team so you're already in their queue.
We have got a lot of customers experiencing issues with their smart meters at the moment, so there is about an 8 week wait on the team working their magic but they will get to you. I'll pop a reminder to check on your account in a few more weeks to make sure you get an update.
