My SMETS2 smart meter was installed in July 2019, my IHD has never managed to pair with the SKU1 cellular hub. The engineer who installed the meter just left the IHD with me and said it would connect automatically within 24 hours!
All the lights (except MESH) flash green every 5 seconds so hub appears to be OK.
I have tried all the options to connect, including having the IHD running in the meter cupboard.
Reading all the information about IHD units having to be uniquely configured to the consumer location I wonder if the installer had to configure something in the hub unit or is this all done over the WAN. Having changed suppliers various companies have tried reset the meter but the IHD has never paired. Does it sound like an engineer needs to change something in the hub to allow it to pair?
Its beyond my very limited competence but @theunknowntech will doubtless be able to assist, when he's online.

To be honest @JamesBillinghurst... This is where things get tricky... The only supplier capable of pairing that original IHD would have been the installing supplier at the time. Given that you've changed supplier since then, it may no longer be possible to pair it now. In actual fact, I suspect the engineer messed up too. They can't just dump the IHD with you and walk off like that. It doesn't work that way!
Your best bet will likely be to get another IHD. I'm afraid E.On Next won't give you one and if they did so right now, it'd be a terrible IHDL SmartView 2. My guide over at https://community.eonnext.com/thread...ve-IHD-options goes into detail about your options.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

@theunknowntech Many thanks for the information, great to hear from someone who understands these gadgets.
Bit disappointing to know that I possibly have a working IHD but have no way of using it.
Wonder if it is worth me contacting SSE who are the local provider of supply?
I just checked my file and the smart meter was installed by Siemens when I was with Bulb.

Not worth trying I'm afraid. Even a DNO can't pair an IHD for you, only a supplier can. And given that your Bulb account is now closed, they won't talk to you anymore - and they don't have access to your meters anymore either. It's a role and permission based system and the Network Operator role doesn't have the ability to commission devices iirc.
