I have been switched to Eonnext and have gone from quarterly to monthly billing. BUT, on 5th May, I was emailed a bill for 28th March to 27th April, for £127.46, saying a direct debit would be taken on 20th May. Fair enough.
Then, on 10th May I received another bill for 28th April to 6th May for £39.02, saying a DD for £166.48 would be taken on 25th May.
Today I got an email reminder that £127.46 will be taken on 20th May.
So what is going on? Why 2 bills, one for only a few days?
Will I be charged £127.46 on 20th May, or £166.48 on 25th May? What date will my next bill be.
This is ridiculously confusing.
Has anyone else had these problems since being switched from EON to Eonnext?
It may be worth checking exactly who sent each bill. It's possible that one of them is your first bill from E.On Next, while the other is your Final Bill from E.On Energy. The latter of which would be to close down your old account and clear any remaining balance. I suspect each of the two bills will be paid out separately from the other.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

May I suggest that £166-48 will be taken as this is the sum of £127-46 and £39-02?
If both DD's are taken get the £127.46 refunded by telephoning your bank and invoking the DD guarantee. The refund is virtually instantaneous.
Why 2 bills - getting you onto a regular billing cycle perhaps?

@meldrewreborn Thank you! What a wonderful username you have. Having been with Eon for years, always making sure I have the best tariff, but paying in full by quarterly DD, as I hate the monthly payment stuff when they can increase it as they see fit, this is all getting on my nerves. I will be quite happy if they take the £127.46 followed by the £39.02, and then monthly thereafter. But that's not what the emails are saying. I can just see this ending up as "I don't believe it!"
I have just checked my bank account, and EON have taken the 2 amounts correctly. £127.46 on 20/5/22 and £39.02 on 25/5/22. Totally not what the emails said, but as it is correct, I am happy. Just wait to see if I am now going to get billed at proper monthly intervals. Thanks for your help folks.
