The shiny new smart metre under the stairs baffles me, it's got 2 buttons that provide a variety of numbers but none of which look like gas/elec readings. The handy easy to read meter on the windowsill reads at £0 for gas and not much more for electric. Needless to say I'm in credit. I've turned the plug off to the handy version as well as the wifi and it still reads £0. Am worried that it will catch up eventually and I'll have a mahoosive bill. Can anyone offer any advice or help? Should I just book another smart metre installation and get one that works?
If you can post a description (better still pictures ) we can help you. I'm no fan of smart meters but understand that connection to the supplier through the DCC can take quite some time. The meters will still be recording your consumption and we will be able to tell you how to read them. The communications hub attached to the electricity meter uses a type of mobile phone signal to send and receive data - it doesn't use your home WIFI. The communications hub also links to the in home display, which should be treated as a guide but no more. Its the consumption from the meters than will eventually be used to compute your bills.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Thanking you- I!ve attempted to attach a photo...and failed so....its a grey box with SKU1 cellular written at the top. It has one green A button and a grey B button both on the right hand side of a little screen. Have pressed both of them numerous times pressing A gets credit mode balance B says boost y or n. Nothing that saying gas or elec reading
numerous times and
Can you investigate this? Igloo went bust yonks ago and connection to Eon Next shouldn't take this long, especially as these should be SMETS2 meters and comms.
Ah yes, I think I can identify the meter from that description. It sounds like you've got a SMETS2 Landis+Gyr E470 and the Comms Hub is a SMETS2 Toshiba/WNC SKU1 Cellular.
If memory serves, the current electric meter reading should be visible on the meter display at all times when the meter is in sleep mode. I'm afraid I can't identify the gas meter from your description though.
I'm looking through my resources now. Bear with me!
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

You're wonderful! Hands and knees in the Harry Potter under stairs cupboard with torch and found the readings on both meters. Will send readings through now and await the bill with dread but THANK YOU SO MUCH :)
