Bought a new build back in December 2020 and was originally with British Gas (BG) on a standard tariff. Once I got my first bill I looked for a fixed deal which brought me to Eon in March 2021.
3 months into that I realised my gas meter on my bill wasn't my gas mater, and this was put right.
I'm still using the original BG ihd and the tariff's have never been right, but it gave me a general idea as to what I was using.
Back in January this year (2022) i received and email from Eon saying I needed to give a meter reading, and have been having to do manual readings since. I've since been moved over to Eon Next.
The ihd shows the meter readings of both electricity and gas and the usage over the day, along with a cost over the day. The tariff on the ihd doesn't match with either Eon or BG.
I've recently installed the Loop app on my phone and looking at that it shows very sporadic signs of the meter showing data and not.
I've got 5 LED's on my meter 4 of which flash every 5 seconds, with mesh not flashing. Toshiba branded SKU1 Cellular.
Any help to give me an idea of what I'm actually spending, and so i can stop doing manual readings would be great.
Hmm... This is a tricky one. How often do the lights on the Comms Hub flash? If it's every five seconds, that's a good sign. Otherwise, something's definitely not right!

Hi, they flash every 5 seconds.
Looking at the loop app there has been no data for gas recorded at all, and electricity there's been no data since some time during the 19th April with gaps going back further.
The ihd is reading my use of gas as usage goes up when i run hot water or turn heating on.
I see. To me, this suggests a weak connection and that's not ideal. It may be possible to fix this remotely, but it may require an engineer visit to upgrade the Comms Hub with a stronger aerial. Let me flag this one to a moderator and get them to dig deeper. Got a sec @Beki_EONNext ?

Thanks, the 2 meters themselves are only about 3 metres apart and the ihd is in the kitchen between them.
I would guess you are talking more about the signal the smart hub has to the sims network. Mobile reception isnt great here and could well be the cause of my issues.
Do smart meters use the 4g network to communicate?
I can't see them using 3g, as that is being stripped out nationally.
I noticed something else odd happening on my idh last night.
It showed £1.95 for the days use then suddenly went to £1.78 for about 30 seconds, then back to the first.
Beki can help out with that when she stops by. It's sometimes a bit faster when I call in the moderators. :)
However, if you'd like to contact customer service yourself, please do feel free to do that. Beki would know if you did so that she doesn't accidentally trample on another team.
Further from the above I received a statement this morning with a smart reading way above what my meter actually is. Checking things I have now submitted a manual reading.
