Is there anything I can try to get this paired to my meters again?
SmartView2 IHD lost connection help please
-
I had a smart-meter installed in January and was given a Smartview2 IHD. This worked well for about 1 month and I was able to view Electricity and Gas usage and history. About 2 months ago though it seemed to loose connectivity to the smart meters and now when I turn it on it constantly displays a paring/scanning screen (photo attached). I have tested having it very close to the meters and I know that the meters are still working and sending signals, as my billing is correct.

Hmm... That's not good...
I'm afraid @fenders it appears your IHD is dead and probably not worth fixing. I can help you to get hold of a replacement one though. E.On Next doesn't really send out any to customers who already have one, so I think your best bet would be the ivie Bud in this case. It'll cost you about £50 but will work fine no matter which supplier you're with.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Thanks for your reply. I had hoped there might be a way of reconnecting it but sadly not. Can I just check is there any other way I can get the usage information without the IHD? EON Next don't have an app I can use do they? I looked but could not find one. I have installed the Loop app but that does not cover gas. -
Apps are finicky about gas meters I'm afraid. A full IHD is the only truly reliable option I know of to get data from a gas meter without waiting until the next day.

You can still take readings visually from the meter(s) themselves. I'll not say "when i was in the war" but I'm well passed pension age and have never needed to rely upon an app to tell me how much energy I've used. If you can read the meter you can work out consumption easily enough.
Is it worth paying £50 for a device? We're all different but I though smart metering was supposed to help us save money, not spend it.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio.
