Hi all,

When I took out the V18 fixed 2 year deal (electricity) only it confirmed that the deal matched the incoming price capped rates on 1st April.

Is that true with the 51.62 Standing Charge per day and 29.24p kWh.

I think with the SC it may well breach the price cap

The price cap only applies to variable rate tariffs, not to fixed rate tariffs so it won't apply in your case anyway. However, the most widely known price cap is merely a national average and should not be relied upon as being THE de facto price cap for absolutely everyone. It varies on a per region basis as well, so you are probably in a more expensive area with a higher price cap to match.

Unless you've evidence to back up your claim, I think you'll find some clever wording by EOon Next puts them in the clear. As it is many here would bit your hand off if you could deliver those rates today.

The unit price looks to match the Price cap figure (it does vary a little by region) but the SC is higher than all regions - but its a great deal.

Definitely I was happy with the deal when I took it in March to start 1st April. But was just wondering with the standing charge (definitely higher) if they had broken their own promise of matching the April price cap (I think the 29.24 is correct for Norfolk)

I see my mistake this cap price promise was for the one year V11 fixed one year rate. The difference on the V18 two year fixed rate was a higher SC but same unit rate for elec kWh.

It's good to sometimes lay it all out to spot the mistake but still very happy with the fix👍

Ofgem monitors compliance with the Ofgem Default Tariff Cap like a hawk. If literally anyone steps over the line at all, Ofgem WILL pounce on them and come down like a ton of bricks.
