I had a SMETS1 installed by Scottish Power, but their contractor didn't upgrade the gas meter (because too far away, 10 paces !),

While with Eon it was upgraded to SMETS2 OTA so it was able to read via DCC. Now moved to EonNext but after > 3 months it cannot remote read.

So I want a Gas SmartMeter added. Can't seem to book this online or in App.

good luck, seems I got the same installer but he blamed the weather on not installing the gas meter.

Apologies for the delayed response.
Upon investigating your account we can see that you are not eligible for a smart meter for the gas.
Regarding our national data base if you already have a smart meter you are not eligible to have a smart meter.
We are going to have to remove the existing electricity smart meter to a credit meter but that will come at a cost price of £235.00.
Then after we will have to book for an installation of a dual fuel smart meter for both electricity and gas and that will be free of charge.
As we are unable to book a smart meter for gas only, as it is a business decision.

To get a Smart Gas Meter in this case, the electric meter will need to be upgraded and replaced with a proper SMETS2 meter as well. Your current one is still SMETS1 hardware and can never be a true S2, so it won't be compatible with an S2 gas meter.

Let me call in @HannahD_EONNext for this one. It's probably going to be a nightmare if you go via customer service.

Hi all sorted now, I was miss informed, they are focusing on homes with no smart meters, the will eventually get round to those who only have one

And there won't be a charge.

I read recently that only 40% of homes have smart meters, so there will be quite a wait for you.

I also read that 20% of those already installed are actually in dumb mode.

I'm not a fan!

I don’t mind waiting, I regularly take gas readings to know my consumption and what adjustments work and dont, I am benefiting from Drayton wiser heating controls which I installed two years ago which works really well making every radiator run independent at different times of the day depending on your room habits.
