My smart meter has stopped sending accurate readings since last year, and estimated readings were used to calculate our monthly bills. However, after finally figuring out how to read the meter, I find the estimated readings higher than what we have actually used.
Gas should be 2247 instead of 2373, and electricity should be 4367(day) and 826(night) instead of 4559 and 860. I have submitted the actual readings and I was wondering how this will be corrected? Do I get refunded for the overpaid amount or should I stop paying until the actual usage catch up with the estimated?
@Maomaoshome Anasa here 👋 Thanks for getting those reads checked and sent over to us! your account will be updated and re billed accordingly. If you're in credit we'll let you know on your next bill, if you have an online account you'll be able to see your up to date balance.
If you pay by Direct Debit keep making your payments, if you pay on receipt of your bill and you're in credit you won't need to make a payment until your credit balance has gone but you can choose to continue if that's what you'd prefer. If you do pay by Direct Debit we'll automatically refund any credit on your account during your annual review around April/May time we'll then re set your Direct Debit for ongoing usage 😊
