Smart meter removal

    Can anyone pls help me sort removal of these I cannot get through on phone or by email sadly.

    Hi there @Cazzy 👋.

    Can I pester you into knowing more as to why 😊 if you are having problems with them we are more than happy to give you some advice to help you regain your love for them!
    If they are not faulty and you are wanting them removed by choice we can come and remove the smart meters for you at cost of £235.00 for a single meter, or £470.00 for both meters.

    While I sympathise, I'm not sure you can demand removal of your smart meters -they will likely only replace them with different smart meters.

    I’ve read they can be turned off so then will revert back to analogue ones. Hopefully they can do this? I’m not getting any help anywhere atm!

    They will always be digital meters but the smart functions can, i think, be switched off.

    I'm afraid smart functionality cannot be disabled on a Smart Meter while leaving the meter in place.
    @Cazzy if you're having problems with your meters, I can try to help. If you want to downgrade because of supposed health concerns, please reset assured that any health claims about smart meters being bad for your health are completely fabricated. If you have any other concerns, please let me know what they are. With the help of my friend Blastoise186, I've got knowledge of almost all of them and can address them for you.

    It's worth noting that non-smart traditional meters are in short supply and are slowly being phased out. Downgrading now will only delay rather than prevent the inevitable.

    If it's about the remote disconnection thing, I assure you personally. This will not happen. While it is possible from a technical point of view, just about every supplier in the UK has decided it's too dangerous to use such features and basically revoked their ability to use it. There are VERY strict policies about when you can be disconnected anyway and the same rules apply regardless of your meter type. Ultimately, if your supplier wants to disconnect you for non-payment they can just get a warrant for that and force entry to your house anyway, which is likely to remain the preferred method of disconnections purely because they can ensure that it's actually safe to do so first.

    Remote disconnections are basically banned in the UK by consensus between all suppliers. It cannot be done and likely never will. I'm sorry, but I do not personally consider it a valid reason to request a downgrade as it's not a valid one.

    Hi Hannah thanks for replying. I’m shocked at the amount charged to remove them when I didn’t ask for them but were already in place when I moved in. I know many people have them but I’m hearing more and more about them causing health problems like tinnitus headaches and insomnia. My partner has suddenly developed ringing in his ear which is v uncomfortable and we think May be due to the smart meters. I’m just worried they’re affecting our health but can’t afford to get them removed.

    Can I ask. The guy called unknown tech whose replied to me does he work for Eon? Appreciate your comments.

    Hi firstly can I ask do you work for Eon and are a technician or what is your role? I have genuine concerns about our health and do not feel they are fabricated as you put it. How can you be sure they are not affecting people’s health?
    after reading about them and hearing from friends they are saying they cause tinnitus insomnia headaches etc so that’s not very good and quite concerning.

    The problem with this is that its easy for somebody to say that something is an issue without any real evidence to back it up. There is such a thing as coincidence and this undoubtedly lies at the root of these stories. All the evidence produced by real experts in the field points to Smart Meters being absolutely safe.
