Yep rather annoying in the end a Eon-minion said because i didn't officially report it until March 30th it was out of warranty as of March 10th becuse the meter was installed before the house had finished being built lol. My house was a new build so it has been sitting not working for some time before i moved in.
So no replacement but to rub salt in a wound I went to order a Ivie Bud and it won't work with my meter.
The house finished being built 1 year ago last week and already the meter is out of date.
Could you show me photos of the meters please? I can identify them for you and help you figure out any potential options.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

@St3v0 - I can see you've spoken to the lovely Amy who has sent a message off to the smart meter team to see what's going on.
In the meantime, can you ping us a picture of your electric meter and also the communications hub which should be near it, and let us know what the lights on the comms hub are doing?
Can you tel me what IHD I should buy with these meters. They were fitted a few years ago with an IHD but whet I moved to eon in 2018 the company wanted it sent back. Eon next won’t supply me one
My display lost its connection to the meter after I agreed a new tariff back in July. The display is trying to connect, and I have followed all the advice give (which amounts to turning it off and on again).
I have now been advised to buy my own meter from vie bud for #50 .
Apparently it is @UnhappyCustomer. I did remark on here a while ago that if energy suppliers were genuinely behind smart meters for the reasons of helping customers save energy, then why not replace an IHD free of charge when it fails. If they don't/won't, then a lot of customers will just go without one. It sends the wrong message in my opinion but it's becoming increasingly common where the masses just believe what they're told and don't question it.
Also, I would be surprised if the the cost price of an IHD was any more than a tenner, it would be good PR to say "We'll replace a faulty IHD free of charge because it's important that the customer can continually monitor their energy usage....".
@theunknowntech my ihd hasnt worked for 4 months and was told on twitter they dont kow how long it will take to fix it. why cant they just send a replacement IHD? its just not good enough eon, is it?

If it's been more than 12 months, the warranty would have expired I'm afraid. To be honest, you're better off buying an ivie Bud or Hildebrand Glow IHD anyway.
My unit stopped working a month or so into install a few years ago. Wasn't bothered at the time and just stuck it in the draw. Then over last year or so we have had to supply meter readings as EON not getting them from smart meters. Again not too bothered. Until very recently when now its very important for us to monitor usage. Contacting EON on twitter- they were pretty quick to reply and give things to try but they didnt work- as I knew. Ive also told them smart meters werent being picked up and they did tests and agreed. They have said it will be upto 8 weeks to sort but 'As it is a known issue' should be quicker.
Does this mean a know issue with smart meters, device or both?
