But someone told me I could top up before the new rate kicks in and so not be charged the new tarrif until I top up after 1st April. I don't have a Smart meter.. Is this right??
How much can I top up on each trip with the key to top up??
What is the maximum amount my prepayment meter can hold / acknowledge??
Thank you everyone!! I think if I can it will be a way of keeping my bills lower until I top up after the 1st April!!
It's usually around £49 per top-up with a maximum storage of about £249 on the key/card at once and about £250 on the meter. However, it's recommended to transfer the credit to the meter as soon as possible after charging up the key/card so that you don't forget. You can do multiple transactions while you're still in the shop though, especially if you want to add say £90 of credit to your electric key for example. As long as the meter balance is low enough, all of the credit would then transfer over.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

In my case £49 has always been the upper limit. But you can add more after the first top, which I've done. So I topped up £49, then £11 on the key right after so I have £60 in total
