Replacing Outdoor Gas Meter Box?
-
Storm Arwen caused considerable damage, including falling trees. One of these trees destroyed my outdoor gas meter box. Does anyone know how I can get this replaced?

I'm theunknowntech by the way. While I don't work for E.On or E.On Next myself, my status as a forum volunteer means I'm often around when they aren't. I'm also mentored by my friend Blastoise186 as he can't be here himself.
Based on my understanding of the rules, you'll need to source a new meter box yourself. Places like DIY Stores and builders yards often have them and you can pick them up pretty cheaply. Expect to pay no more than £60 as the absolute max budget for one to cover a gas meter, assuming you don't have a semi-concealed gas meter. Any more than that and you're probably getting ripped off. Once you've got it, you can then contact your local Gas Transporter to have an engineer come out and swap the broken meter box over with your new one. Depending on where you are, that'll be either Cadent, Northern Gas Networks, Wales & West Utilities or SGN. You can use this link to find their contact details based on your post code.
There may be a small fee for this service but probably not too much.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Hi Sorry to hear your news.
This product has a removable back which apparently allows it to be used to replace an existing box.
