My smart meter also doesn't send gas readings and never has done
I was told an engineer has to visit to fix the problem but nothing has ever changed
How do I get this fixed?

I can try to help you out with some diagnostics. I'm theunknowntech by the way, as a forum volunteer I can't access your account but I can do a lot even without that.
Please could you show me some photos of your meters and IHD? I'll need to see these in order to know what you've got, as my advice varies based on this.

As for many others it seems, e.on are receiving smart meter readings for electricity but not for gas. We've only just realised this when checking the readings yesterday as our fixed price deal is about to end. Quite why e.on haven't flagged this is a mystery as it seems no gas readings have ever been sent. We weren't able to work out how to get a meter reading on the actual gas meter - it was displaying "Battery Door Open" which may mean something to someone. Fortunately, we we able to get a reading from the IHD and send that manually.
To me, that sounds like you've got a fault on your gas meter - it shouldn't be giving you that battery door open error. When you get chance, you'll probably want to arrange an engineer visit so that it can be fixed. It seems @PeterT_EONNext is around today, so I'll ask him to try and grab a meter reading and possibly help you with that pesky door.
