@theunknowntech well this doesn't sound good at all! I'm hoping I can get it resolved
I had no idea that it was as bad as that, the engineer just sorta fitted it then left, I've called a few times about the second meter but haven't really seemed to get a straight answer, I just assumed I'd get it removed and have a economy 7 tariff on the smart meter or something
The second meter does show readings but I just didn't know if it was supposed to still be ther once the smart meter was installed cause he just told me to call up about getting it removed
Classic case of Fit n Forget that one. Possibly because the engineer was too focused on getting as many installs done as possible on that day. This is why I've asked Beki to intervene because I don't want that finger zapping machine left like it is any longer than it has to.
I've never been an engineer myself, but as an experienced forum volunteer I know the signs to look for. Plus, me and my friends happen to know a couple of smart meter engineers. Their knowledge proves rather... Useful... :)
Anyway, hopefully this gets sorted for you soon. I'll be around if you need me again though.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

I thought they'd say that. You can ask almost any local electrician to help you fix the earth wire, but this doesn't mean E.On can get out of jail free for the other issues. Not least, the exposed terminal below the meter on the right...
@theunknowntech I've called eon next and apparently theyre coming out next week to take away the economy 7 meter and fit a smart meter that's compatible with economy 7.. hoping that atleast solves the 2 meter issues..
Yup, that should resolve almost all my complaints that I currently have. As long as that old second meter is gone, it'll definitely get rid of the exposed terminal issue. However, it shouldn't have been left like that in the first place and you're welcome to raise a formal complaint about that if you wish - it might help to prevent this incident from happening again. You have my full consent to include the information I've provided via the forum in any such correspondence as well.
@theunknowntech yeah I hope that it gets done right this time, I'm glad I posted on here I'd of had no idea everything was done so badly!
thankyou for your help with this & also allowing me to use the info, I struggle so bad with understanding things like this so the help is massively appreciated!
Hopefully they come with the right meter & a better job is done
I'll be here if you need me. Just make sure to mention me if you reply to this thread again as it otherwise gets buried and I don't have general reply notifications enabled (I'd get flooded otherwise!).
It just goes to show the power of an independent forum volunteer. Make use of my knowledge anytime you need it. I'm always happy to help where I can.
@theunknowntech had the guy come out to fit the new economy 7 smart meter today.. it didn't happen because they had listed it as a faulty meter.. even though when I called I explained that there was two meters, one being an economy 7 and a single rate meter that was installed and I needed both removing & an economy 7 5 terminal meter installing instead so they said they will make a note of itThe guy came out and it's been listed as a faulty meter so he's called them because he said he can't do anything unless it's listed as a change to an economy 7 meter (which he told them I did when I called to arrange it in the first place)
I called them to get it sorted and they told me it's a chargeable appointment to get a economy 7 one in of 150 pounds.. which I don't understand because there was 2 meters when I moved in one of which is economy 7 for the heaters etc but they're saying there's no record of it or anything, if it's not in use surely it should of been removed anyway or economy 7 fitted the first time.. I'm so confused and stressed 😣
