The engineer was on site for a considerable amount of time, but eventually got things working ... or that's what I thought. Basically our situation is as follows:
- When the engineer left, our IHD was waiting to acquire data from the gas meter. The engineer said we'd probably have to wait 48 hours, restart the IHD, and it should pick it up.
- After 48 hours the electricity readings appeared to be working fine - still no gas readings.
- Around a week ago we had to have the power off for a number of hours - the IHD ran flat and subsequently turned itself off.
- When power was restored the IHD powered back up, but instead of showing anything, it just says "Waiting for ..." and never has anything on the display.
So if we look at the consumption now screen on the IHD, we see "Waiting for cost now...". If we go to the gas or electric (or both) consumption history screens, we just get "Waiting for current data...". The gas screen has shown this since the date of fitting, even after the 48 hours bedding in period described by yhe engineer. The electricity screens used to work until the power off and restart of the IHD. It's showing a strong connection to the meter (wifi signal full bars), and the clock is showing the correct time even if restarted (shows 00:00 briefly, but then switches to the correct time).
It has been like this for 5 days now. I've just signed up to EOn Next and examined my bill. It turns out that the smart gas meter appears to have lost it's 'smartness' as it's never submitted a reading automatically since being fitted.
Could we have some assistance with this please? We agreed to have smart meters fitted to facilitate the meter-reading process, but all it looks to be doing is messing things up further.
