Hi,
For the past 3 to 4 weeks my Smart meter receiver or handheld, that receives all the data from the meter has permanently said 'Searching for meters'
No matter how many times I turn it off and on, remove battery, hold it right next to the meter.
The signal is there but it doesn't find the meter!?
Also lights 1,2 and 4 are flashing green on the meter and a red light flashes beside the bottom left corner of the meter display. Not sure if either of these mean anything.

Update:
A postcode area next to us had a power outage last night at around 9.30pm. Engineers had to go to the main network to restore supply, while doing this our power went off and back on again within a split second, wasn't even long enough for the TV to go off completely, and the lights flickered.
When I looked at my smart meter, it had started working!!?!
So all it took was to be disconnected from the network for a few seconds and it rebooted the Comms and meter!
You've caught the attention of the mysterious expert known as theunknowntech. There's only one of me, I'm completely anonymous and I'm a tech expert, hence the name! :)
Of those green lights above the meter - SW, WAN and HAN - how often does each one flash? If they're all flashing together once every five seconds, that's a good sign that the Communications Hub above the meter is healthy. also, are you still getting meter readings showing up in your account?
My current diagnosis is that your meter might have dropped off the network somehow, but I'm still not ready to rule out the In-Home Display being the culprit.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Hi
Yes the green lights SW, WAN and HAN are flashing every five seconds. However, the red light that was flashing to the bottom left of the display, has now moved to the top left of the display 🤔
Also, I had a bill issued yesterday and the amount is as normal.
The signal on the IHD is there, its just not picking up the meter.
Thanks. This may need some additional diagnostics doing and possibly the need to unpair and re-pair the IHD to your Comms Hub. That can sometimes fix an issue like this, but you'll need to contact customer service. It's important to note that they'll need to help you unpair it before you can set it up again.
@theunknowntech
Just spoke with Customer service, and they talked me through an IHD reset, which I did but still says 'searching for meters'
He had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned unpair /re-pair the IHD from and to the Comms hub
In that case, there's a possible issue with the meter and it may need to be rebooted. I'm not sure exactly how to do that however... I'll research some stuff.
@theunknowntech
Further, I've been on to Customer service last week, Again.
As my meter reading is taken on the 8th of each month and still hadn't been taken on the 9th. She said she would look but then informed me that she couldn't download any details for the meter and that it would need reboot.
Here we still are and still no reboot a week later.
I'll give it till Friday, then contact Trading Standards.
I rely on my IHD to keep control of my spending
Really not good enough
Cheers
Getting things rebooted is probably a higher level command that might be restricted. I know rebooting the Comms Hub itself requires DCC involvement for example. I need to think about this a bit more.
@theunknowntech
Yeah, she said she would email the relevant department and they would have it up and running within 48 hours
Curiously today, I got an email from EonNext stating "It's time to renew - Your contract is nearly up"
lol you couldn't make it up
